Cape May Lighthouse/Cape May Point State Park

215 Lighthouse Avenue, Cape May Point, NJ 08204

Built in 1859 the Cape May Lighthouse is 157 feet tall… that is 199 steps to go to the top.  The park has a free beach (no bathing), picnicking areas, hiking trails,  surf fishing, birding and an old WWII bunker.  In the fall, this area is the premier hawk migration route of North America, and your likely to see  monarch butterflies and dragonflies taking a rest before they continue their migration southward over the Delaware Bay.  Catch croakers, weakfish,  flounder, and stripers from the beaches around the point.
